On March 2, the SF Department of Public Health issued a new directive that will allow adult outdoor sports programs to reopen subject to the following requirements:

Best Practices and General Requirements for Sports Programs

Face Coverings - All participants, coaches, and referees are required to wear face coverings at all times. If someone wants to remove their mask to drink water or catch a breath, they will need to be 6 ft away from anyone else. If someone does not want to wear a mask, they should not register for league play.

Participant Rules - Participants are limited to one sports program (team and league) in any 3-week period. Teams are limited to 25 participants and may not have guest players.

One Game Per Day - A team may compete with only one other team per day, and only one event (no double-headers)

Keep Play Local - Teams may compete with other teams in SF or 3 adjacent counties only: Marin, Alameda, and San Mateo. Teams must not participate in any of out of state games or tournaments.

No Spectators - Adult league games may have not have spectators.

• No Pre and Post-Game Gathering - Play and leave. Please also allot ample time for teams to vacate the field before next teams arrive. Avoid carpooling.

Limit Sharing of Equipment - If equipment must be shared, hands should be sanitized prior and after touching. Program organizer must provide face coverings (if needed), hand sanitizer/handwashing stations, disinfectant and related cleaning supplies.

• Must Develop and Distribute a Health & Safety Plan - Must provide to all participants and SFRPD. The SFDPH Health & Safety Plan Form can be found here: https://www.sfdph.org/dph/alerts/covid-guidance/2021-01-HSP-Sports-Youth-and-Adult.pdf

SFRPD SPORTS RESTART

Our Department's aim is get adult league sports back up and running as quickly and as safely as possible. Here are key dates:

Thursday, March 4 – Online request form for adult leagues opens
Wednesday, March 10 – Deadline to apply
League Play to Start:
o Weeknight leagues – Week of March 29 – Run for 8 weeks up to Memorial Day
         o Weekends – Sat/Sun, March 27/28 – Run for 9 weeks

What You Should Know Prior to Applying:

• We intend to schedule your games at the same fields, days, and times as you have had for spring historically

• You do not have to run your leagues according to the schedule above. You can request a later start or less weeks. Health orders state that your leagues must run a minimum of 3 consecutive weeks.

• We can not guarantee a summer season at this time due to constantly evolving health orders. However if health orders do not change, it is likely that we will have one. Summer will have a separate application.

• It is highly unlikely that we can accommodate requests for seasons in which your league has not played historically.

• We understand that the proposed schedule is not ideal. You do not have to participate in spring if you do not want to. If you choose to not play, it will not affect your field allocations in future seasons.

• A number of leagues have existing account credits from Spring 2020. You will be able to apply those to this season.
