MCO Mayor Mentor Program Form

One on one and in informal area networks, Oklahoma mayors help each other “get the job done.” Sign up to be a mentor or to network with an experienced mayor. Mayors share “how to’s” with each other. On the job training doesn’t have to be reinventing the wheel.

TO BE A MENTOR:

1) Be in office for two or more years.
2) Be willing to share your experience and knowledge of resources with a fellow elected mayor.
3) Be willing to meet personally at least once with your fellow mayor.
4) Be available for consultation by telephone or email to visit with the mayor that you are helping.
5) Make a commitment to help until either you or the mayor that you are helping leaves office or for a minimum of one year.
6) Be prepared to make a new friend who shares common concerns for their community.

TO HAVE A FELLOW MAYOR AVAILABLE TO CONSULT WITH YOU:

1) Be a mayor for less than two years.
2) Be willing to benefit from contact with a more experienced mayor for a maximum period of one year.
3) Be available to meet personally with your mentor mayor at least once.
4) Be able to schedule your contact with your mentor to respect their availability.
5) Be prepared to make a new friend who shares common concerns for their community.

Mayor Mentors will be selected from your region and community population size as much as possible. *
