Due to the impact of COVID-19, we have made a number of significant changes to our media credentialing process. This season, we will be handling accredidation on an event-by-event basis. This application and information is only applicable to the 2021 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
The full 2021 U.S. Championships media guidelines can be found here.
U.S. Figure Skating has worked diligently over the past few months to ensure there will be ample coverage opportunities available to media outlets wishing to cover 2021 U.S. Championships. Similar to 2020 Guaranteed Rate Skate America, the 2021 U.S. Championships will feature a “bubble” with very strict guidelines for anyone who will be accessing the arena to ensure the health and safety of athletes, coaches, officials and everyone involved with the event. There will be two types of media credentials issued for those wishing to cover the event.
- Group 1 media credential holders will have access to the Orleans Arena, but in doing so will be required to enter the “bubble” and follow all protocols that are required. Those holding a Group 1 credential will be required to adhere to the bubble’s rules and restrictions (outlined below). Group 1 credentials will be restricted to photographers only for this event. Photographers will have limited event-level access to take photos. Only a very limited number of Group 1 media credentials will be distributed. These media credential holders must test negative for COVID-19 via the bubble testing procedures before entering Orleans Arena. The testing process will require a self-isolation period while waiting for test results; this may take up to 24 hours. These credential holders will be required to take a second test within 72 hours of entering the "bubble." The Group 1 media credential application process will close on Wednesday, Dec. 23.
- Group 2 media credential holders will not have access to the Orleans Arena and will be covering the event virtually. Those holding a Group 2 Credential will not be permitted into the bubble and will not have access to the Orleans Arena under any circumstances.
By applying for credentials, the journalist and his/her editor acknowledge they have read and consent to U.S. Figure Skating's media guidelines and professional journalism policy which can be found here
