U.S. Figure Skating will be sending up to three (3) men, three (3) women, and three (3) ice dance teams to represent the U.S., at the 2023 Winter World University Games in Lake Placid, NY. The games will be held Jan. 12 - 22, 2023, with the figure skating events Jan. 13- 15, 2023.
The Winter World University Games are an international sports festival and competition, showcasing student-athletes from around the world in twelve sports. Figure skating events offered are men's and women's singles and ice dance. This is an International Skating Union (ISU) event, and they will be contested under ISU rules at the senior level.
Athletes selected must meet the following basic critiera:
1. Must be at least 18 years old, but no older than 25, as of December 31, 2022.
2. Must be officially registered with an accredited college or university and proceeding towards a degree or diploma. There is no minimum number of credit hours required. (This will be verified at the time of selection in October 2022, as well as upon completion of the fall semester in December 2022).
3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Selection critiera
Men's and Women's Singles:
- The three (3) highest scores from the National Qualifying Series* in the Senior Men's and Senior Women's events, that also meet the critiera above and wish to be considered. *(An international competition assigned by the International Committee can be substitued for an NQS event).
Ice Dance:
- The three (3) highest scores from the National Qualifying Series or an international competition, in Senior Ice Dance, where both partners also meet the above critiera.
Athletes wishing to be considered must complete this form by Sept. 9, 2022, be registered for the National Qualifying Series, and compete in at least one senior level National Qualifying Series event to post a score* (*Can be substitued by an international competition, if assigned to attend by the International Committee.)
Athletes and alternates will be determined upon the conclusion of the last NQS event and verification of the national standings.
