Priority Workgroups for NAPNAP Partners/Alliance for Children in Trafficking (ACT)
Chapter/SIG Toolkit Workgroup - Create a toolkit that will help chapters and SIGs support and sustain ACT at the grassroots level. The toolkit will provide suggestions and instructions for how the chapter/SIG and individuals can help accomplish overall program goals, including educating healthcare providers and creating awareness within their communities. The toolkit will include information on: how to host a local screening of a trafficking awareness film; how to become trained to present child trafficking education to other healthcare professionals and lay audiences; how to work with existing trafficking coalitions or create one; fundraising for survivors and other local initiatives; and creating public awareness through writing op-eds, blogs, etc.
Training ACT Advocates Workgroup – The primary goals will be to develop a training program for healthcare providers by determining whether additional content should be added to the three CE modules. Workgroup members will review and evaluate external training content from other organizations and make recommendations on live and online training delivery methods that should be appropriate for a variety of healthcare providers. The training program will be an ongoing effort to produce ACT Advocates. Advocates will receive a certificate upon completion and be added to a public-facing speakers bureau hosted on the NAPNAP Partners website. The ACT Advocates will conduct grassroots education sessions for staffs at hospitals, clinics and primary care offices. ACT Advocates may conduct training sessions at local/state conferences and other events. They may also conduct training sessions for all types of schools, community groups, faith-based organizations, youth groups and others.
Multimedia Workgroup - Will assist in the direction and possible creation of very high-quality multimedia presentations (using tools such as Prezi or similar programs) for use by ACT Advocates. Workgroup may create audience handouts, presentation script/talking points to augment the presentations of ACT Advocates. The workgroup will assist in recruiting and recommending on a creative partner (advertising/PR company) for pro bono work.
Best Practices and Protocol Workgroup - Develop human trafficking protocols for hospitals, outpatient clinics, urgent care, convenient care and independent primary care offices. Gather, review and determine best practices and existing protocols for posting on NAPNAP Partners website and dissemination by ACT Advocates. Develop protocols as needed for various facilities. Review existing resources to determine if they can be recommended by NAPNAP Partners.
