Hello pals, it’s about time we take a brief moment to reflect on our School. Let’s take a little journey to the past-How we thought OPASS was; a journey into our times as Students of the School-How the school was; a journey into the future-how we wanted OPASS to be when we see Her again. We would be surprised to realize the extent of the distortions between the times. Nothing can be compared to what any of these dreams and thoughts were if we have the opportunity to visit today. What we would see might amplify the cliché of “A Broken Dream” no matter how high or low our individual perceptions were. OPASS today is a manifestation of the Harsh, Tough and Rough times of the period – Bathhouses that need immediate re-roofing; Congestion at the Girls Dormitories leading to overstretching of amenities; Students at the mercy of Mosquitoes and the vagaries of the Weather due to virtual absence of louver blades in the dormitories and the Classrooms; Broken Sewerage System and leaking W/C’s that need immediate attention; Master’s Bungalows that need renovations; and A pledge from us to build an Assembly Hall that is long overdue; etc.

 

However, we can dissociate the name of the school and our Status as the “MPANINFOO” of Ghana’s educational system from those of the times by simply rallying together to confront this looming picture of poverty of a school in need. It’s time we reflect on the fact that when we were suckling on the rich milk and the blessings of the school for discipline and knowledge to build our future, “she was Blessing Us To Be A Blessing to Her in times like these”. Like a mother all she had been expecting is for us to Cloth her with the richness that befits her status as “home to a collection of an advantaged intellectual community of well placed alumni in society”.

 

We are today presented with an Opportunity to be part of an enviable Generation, A Unique Class of Destiny Fulfilling Group and we must seize it and transform the challenge into an advantage. All we need to do is to;

 

    Simply hearken to the cry of a generation,

    Put foundations to those castles we built in the air

    And all it takes is a pledge, a commitment and a

    determination, To fulfill a mission and a Dream

    With the little Droplets of your Blessings;

    That’s all “The Mother” asks of you.

 

Let’s contribute anything both small and large, cash and kind. The goal is one; The Mission-Noble-to change the fortunes of our alma matter, create a positive future today and correct the Visions of a future Generation; the Pride-Ours! Let’s live to be proud of our part in this Noble Mission for it lives on after us. Let’s Rise And Build – Now!!
