Coaching a GOTR team is a rewarding and fun experience. You don't have to be a runner to coach, but you must be a non-smoking positive person who will be a healthy role model for young girls.
Coaches must be available to meet for 75 minutes twice weekly after school (start times range between 3 and 4 p.m.). The overall time commitment for first-time coaches is about 35 hours over the course of 12 weeks.
The spring 2012 season will begin the week of March 5 and conclude by May 18.
At least one coach per site must be at least 21 years old. At least one coach must be certified in CPR/First Aid. A background check will be conducted and a car is required.
Coaches will meet with their teams (subject to minimum and maximum enrollments) for 75 minutes twice weekly for 10 weeks.
Attending a coach-training clinic is required for first-time coaches (returning coaches DON'T have to attend training again). Coaching clinics are tentatively scheduled for the following days (CPR/First Aid training will occur during these sessions):
* 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 in Elkhorn/Omaha
* 8:30 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 in Lincoln
* If you're taking GOTR's free CPR/First Aid training, add two hours
